Our Purpose

And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.
II Tim. 2: 2

The purpose of the Westminster Fellowship is to
develop, organize, support, encourage leaders who are qualified to teach others.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. Their teaching will spread like gangrene.

II Tim. 2: 15-17a

Through mutual support, encouragement, and holding each other accountable to the faithful performance of God's personal call, the Westminster Fellowship will assist saints everywhere to be workmen who do not need to be ashamed and who correctly handle the word of truth.

By stating clearly, unequivocally, what we believe, the Westminster Fellowship offers leadership and support which avoids the godless chatter of those who practice the theology of accommodation which has spread like gangrene through the Church.

What We Are

All Scripture is Godbreathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
II Tim. 3: 16-17

The Westminster Fellowship has been incorporated as a 501c3 corporation, and as such is able to receive tax-deductible gifts. We are committed to using all our resources to equip the saints for the work of Christ's ministry.

The Westminster Fellowship does not compete with any renewal effort for the simple reason that we are not a "renewal" group. Our purpose is to make a clear, unequivocal witness, and to help others do the same.

       *All styles of ministry are encouraged.

       *All styles of worship should be encouraged.

       *The Westminster Fellowship opens the way to real ecumenism.   (Since C-67, ecumenical in the PCUSA has meant the NCC and WCC.   The Westminster Fellowship opens the door to brothers and sisters in North American Association of Presbyterian and Reformed Churches, where our common faith will encourage fellowship and missionary cooperation.)

       *The Westminster Fellowship is open to individuals as well as congregations of all Reformed denominations. (Our membership may have begun in the PCUSA, but it doesn't have to end there.)

        *The Westminster Fellowship encourages the connectional aspect of our covenant faith.   To be a member of the Westminster Fellowship is to accept this responsibility to support, encourage and hold accountable other members.

       *The Westminster Fellowship network is an effective support for existing ministries.

People are not attracted to churches that do not know what they believe.
James Montgomery Boice

The Westminster Fellowship was/is necessary because we need churches and church leaders who clearly, unequivocally, know what being Reformed means. The Westminster Fellowship is not trying to re-invent the wheel; rather it is reaffirming clearly, unequivocally, the truths which have defined the Reformed faith for generations. As the Apostle John said:

Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard.
I John 2: 7

The Westminster Fellowship proclaims doctrinal truth clearly so all can know assuredly the truth of their faith.

We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true.

I John

The ultimate purpose of the Westminster Fellowship is to equip saints with an understanding of the faith which has been given to us, so that we may know Him who is true.

Who We Are

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matt. 5: 14-16

Thanks to brother Dave Morrison, we have a first-rate web site [http://westminsterfellowship.org/].  Nearly 8000 people turn to our site each month (How many of them are in your congregation?).  There are invaluable resources there for equipping saints. Each Monday. . .

  • there are two Bible studies - Achile's Gospel Study and the Dog's Blog - one topical and one expositional;
  • on Page One there is an article by a well-known Reformed scholar. (We will start the new year with a series on the deity of Christ, taught by Dr. J Gresham Machen.)
  • Page One also features A Moment with Charles Spurgeon, which offers Biblical insights from one of the greatest preachers
  • on the Resources page there are:
        1. downloadable books (for those interested in how the PCUSA became so apostate, read Death of a Church);
        2. links to helpful web sites and blogs;
        3. Bible studies and links to the Westminster Standards.
The doctrines of grace are clearly, unequivocally stated.  Truly Reformed vows are offered.  The opportunity to respond is given.

If you are not making use of this resource you are short-changing your saints.

Here are some suggestions for using the site to equip your saints:

    1.  Use a bulletin insert to inform your members of the site.
    2.  Study the doctrines and vows with your leaders.  Encourage them to make the congregation a part of the Westminster Fellowship (it is one way to set your church apart from all those other "Presbyterian" congregations, and a great way to evangelize.  When you tell people that yours is a "Westminster Fellowship" congregation, they will want to know what that means, providing you with a wonderful opportunity to share the Gospel.)
    3.  If you have in-home small groups, use one of the articles by the scholars for your discussion topic.

The Westminster Fellowship doesn't have a "dog" in any denominational fights; we are not "selling" anything; but we are making a clear, unequivocal witness to our one Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

 You know the Truth.  You are the light of the world.

Put your light on a lampstand. . .   Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.    Help others to have the same peace and confidence in Christ that you have. Use the web site.  Tell others about the Westminster Fellowship.
